Summary/Abstract: Essay on phenomenon of suffering and human pain in literary work of Ćamil Sijarić. In essay author consider the literary works of Sijarić's opus: "Raška zemlja Rascija“ / “Raska country Rascia”; "Carska vojska“ / “Imperial Army“; „Oslobođeni Jasenovac“ / “Liberated Jasenovac“ and “Todora“, in which Sijarić shows the time when evil and violence dominate man existence and history. In these works, as the author indicates, Sijarić illuminates skillfully and creatively phenomenon of human suffering - starting from the specific historical events he shows basic ideas about human destiny and the world. It is prose pervaded by lyrical reminiscences and fictionalization of the “cruel" historical facts. The exception is the story of “Liberated Jasenovac“ which is, under issues and terrible facts of that concentration camp, based on a realistic, fact-orientated narrative, without excessive moralizing. Faruk Dizradević sets his essayistic passages of Sijarić's skilful narration, and unobtrusive “wisdom“ of his stories and novels, into the context of historical and sociological interpretation of phenomenon of evil which characterized human existence for centuries.
