Summary/Abstract: Financial crises have been a common phenomenon throughout the history, strongly related to the idea of capitalism. Despite being a complex element of analysis, the variety of forms of financial crises bring useful information for current or future possible episodes of turbulence. The purpose of the current paper is to underline the nature and evolution of financial crises by examining their frequency, market distribution and duration.
