Summary/Abstract: The present society is without any doubt an informational society. The implementation of complex applications, created to comply with the business needs of various organizations - many of them with geographically distributed offices - led to the development of new computer networks capable to assure the rapid transmission of information. This paper describes the types of distributed transactions with their properties and operations. The aim of distributed transactions is to ensure concurrency and data consistency for all users of the database. In addition, we analyze ways of managing transactions.
