Summary/Abstract: Coherence between form and meaning is the recipe for a good reception of God’s Word. This principle adheres also to Kerygma and its form. Their coherence and transparent relation is the prerequisite of the beginning and deepening of the contact with God. This is of great importance for the redeeming power of God’s Word. God’s Word becomes the evidence of God’s presence in the human existence. Before it can happen, the problem of putting Kerygma in a historical-dogmatic cage must be solved. The Word about God must become the Word of God. The practical, theological theory of symbolic experience offers a chance to solve the problem. It refers to psychoanalytical studies on the development of symbolic thinking in humans. The thinking is defined by a symbolic experience, that is, a way of communication which allows to experience real and life-giving relation with someone who is made present in the signs. When looked at from this perspective, words and signs of the Church become the intersubject space that makes God present. Kerygma, as a symbolic sign, is something more than just a historical-theological form. Its new, present-day form should be found in a symbolic experience.
