Summary/Abstract: Preparation to holy matrimony consists of three levels of preparation: far, close and direct. During the close preparation the ideal of marital life, which is understood as a special kind of calling, is presented. It is also important to demonstrate that this ideal can be realized and to show some dangers that can threaten responsibly-made decisions of getting married and that can threaten the fulfilment of wedding vows. Candidates for marriage should be instructed not only to take emotions and religion, but also reason into consideration before making the decision. Candidates should also be made aware of the irreversibility of their decision. During the direct preparation special attention should be paid towards the demand of freedom of choice when it comes to the decision of getting married.
