Summary/Abstract: The texts from the Old Testament presented in this article show matrimony as an alliance between two people who, according to God’s will, now form “one body”. What is more, the biblical revelation puts stress on the necessity of a never-ending connection between spouses and God who makes this connection blessed and fertile. Pericopes taken from all the three sections of the Old Testament canon, together with the text of the Gospel, may be truly inspirational in preparing wedding homily.
