Summary/Abstract: The sacrament of marriage, as an image and manifestation of the marital love of Christ and the Church, is expressed in three components; “two in one”, legitimate, and institution. The motive of the vows between Christ and the Church does not constitute only a simple model offered to those who are contracting a marriage. It is a personification of love allowing to understand that marriage is a sacrament. Christ does not stop loving the Church, he continues giving himself to her “here” and “now” through the power of the Holy Spirit. Such a base for the bridal motive- that nuptial motive makes easier the departure from the understanding of marriage as purely ethical, it shows it as a dynamic reality, unexhausted by its forms in civilization, finding its climax in the Kingdom of life and love in eternity. Particular deepening into the realization of the vows of Christ with the Church in the sacrament of love - in marriage, there is required the role of the Holy Spirit.
