Summary/Abstract: On Albrow’s reading, the nation-state no longer contains the aspirations nor monopolizes the attention of those who live on its territory. Henrikson points out that global politics and local politics, though interlinked today by processes of globalization, remain separated by the phenomenon of distance. As Lazar puts it, the coming into existence of the state itself serves as a moral imperative governing action under existential political circumstances.
