Summary/Abstract: Review of Grzegorz Niziołek’s book Ciało i słowo. Szkice o teatrze Tadeusza Różewicza [‘The Body and the Word. Sketches on Tadeusz Różewicz’s literary output’] (Wydawnictwo Literackie publishers, Cracow, 2004). The book attempts at taking a comprehensive glance on the Różewicz output as a playwright. The key to a conceptual regard to these plays is the categories of the Body and the Word, being of crucial import to the poet. The monograph’s author consistently proves to us how inseparable they are whilst analysing their mutual relations across Różewicz’s texts. As strongly emphasised by the reviewer, the book’s author has embarked on an in-depth analysis and interpretation of the plays, studying their form, possible readings, and ways of getting delivered on stage.
