Summary/Abstract: The interest in understanding their own depths is one of the most important features of the last centuries. Having its roots in Antiquity, this trend has been perpetuated till the present, displaying original literary consequences. The aim of this article is to study self examination and the reflection of the unique experience in various literary and art works. The interest concerning his own individuality and care to highlight it can be observed especially in the painting of the XVI- XVII centuries.
