Summary/Abstract: The article Portrait of a City Bordering the Veld: Johannesburg Outlined by Ivan Vladislavić explores the city of Johannesburg in the first decade of the 21st century starting from Ivan Vladislavić’s observations from Portrait with Keys. The City of Johannesburg Unlocked. Crime, hunters, gatherers, and urban poachers represent the strong link between urban life and nature. At the border of the city there is the veld which manages to bring some poetry within a city whose economic centre has been moved to the suburbs due to high rates of crime.
