Summary/Abstract: Traditional micro-universes, threatened by both physical and spiritual disappearance, practice of customs (partially preserved or in new forms) and remembrance present the last strongpoints in unequal battle with globalized and uniformed present. That is exactly the case with minority of Czechs in Southern Banat, colonial descendants spread across mountain villages that appears to be at the end of their existence due to economic crisis, closing down of mines in that area and migrations to Czech Republic. That mountain, sober spirit of people who do their jobs well and pay respects to their forefathers had helped them, with a lot of effort, to build their villages and sieze their lands from practically wild and unreachable surroundings. At the same time, it is a community of people who live according to their tradition and society, which is the best shown in their oral culture (songs, poems, proverbs, legends, anecdotes, etc.).
