Summary/Abstract: The principal objective of the article is to describe the orthodox practice of pilgrimage in Romania as a whole, as it has developed after 1989, after the fall of communism, when the Orthodox Church has become free to express itself in the public. The article shows how the pilgrimage is reflected in the specialized literature in the area of socio-anthropology of religions, as well as the main epistemological and methodological challenges.
