The Renaissance of Western Sculpture in the XIth Century: The Question of Traditional or New Images

Summary/Abstract: In addition to presenting an original thesis on the history of art, this study also attempts to demonstrate that a revolution is needed in the West today in our approach to history, if we are to treat our own history with the proper academic rigour. The extraordinary introduction of sculpture into Western churches in the 11th and 12th centuries provides an opportunity for doing so.
