Summary/Abstract: The harmonisation of the legal system of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the law of the European Union is one of the pre-requisites for joining not only this but other economic integrations as well. The state interest and the strategic aim of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a full membership in the European Union. Complying with the conditions for a full membership in the European Union, stability of institutions which guarantee democracy, a legal state, the respect of democratic principles and human rights, and market economy represent the basis of the internal and external politics in Bosnia and Herzegovina. While creating the necessary conditions on the way to a full membership in the European Union, it is necessary to develop a framework for the transformation of Bosnia and Herzegovina into a civil, economically successful and democratic society. Starting from this determination of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a need for a systematic solution of problems of specific social categories, especially those categories which, in a democratic society, are guaranteed a special care, is obvious. The basic hypothesis is that the Community law of the European Union as the supranational law represents the norm for the development of the legal system in Bosnia and Herzegovina in many different work and business areas. On the grounds of the general hypothesis, the derived one is based on the fact that standards of behavior are becoming more complex in all fields including the consumer protection, which is main topic of this paper.
