Summary/Abstract: Effectiveness of combined cognitive training (memory training and fitness exercises) was examined on a set of seniors from non-clinical population (N = 37; mean age 71 years) who trained a memory using mnemonics and did the fitness exercises, twice a week in 12 meetings. Before and after the project participants filled out a questionnaire and during the training continuously evaluated both activities. The participants expressed the belief that this type of training may delay some of the unpleasant symptoms of aging and improve the quality of life and they preferred linking mental (memory training) and physical activity (fitness training). Quality of life measured by the scale of personal well-being (SOS-10) increased significantly after training as well as the selfassessment of memory and social skills. The degree of cognitive errors measured using CFQ (Cognitive Failure Questionnaire) did not change. According to the study results the training of memory combined with the fitness exercises can be effective tool in improving the subjective quality of life and self-esteem of senior population. It seems that the relatively high age of the participants, which is near the average life expectancy in the CR does not hinder the possibility of targeted and positive subjective change.
