The Church of Our Lady in Tumski Ostrów (German: Dom Insel) as a contribution to the discussion on the so-called Brunsberg Style.

Summary/Abstract: The term Brunsberg Architecture" includes two aspects that play an important role in building. The term describes a type of a sacred edifice that is a hall closed with an ambulatory chancel and a system of inside buttresses between which there are chapels. A specific sort of the elevation decor is typical of this type of architecture in Pomerania and Brandenburg. Within this style there are two types of ornamentation. The first type is represented by the chancel of the Church of Our Lady in Stargard Szczeciński, the orna- mentation of the outside walls of the chapels in the Church of St James in Szczecin, the ornamentation of the temples in Chojna and in Brandenburg. The second type - attributed to a Pomeranian master - is represented by the outside ornamentation of the Church of St Peter and St Paul in Szczecin and the outside walls of the Church of Our Lady in Poznań. Because of some evident formal differences among the edifices classified as belonging to the second type it is advisable not to include them into the production of Henry Brunsberg; the Church of St Peter and St Paul in Szczecin and the Church of Our Lady in Poznań were created either within the workshop of Master Henry or by his followers somehow related to him.
