Summary/Abstract: Although rural areas cover 90 percent of Europe’s land and host approximately half of its population, the citizens from the countryside have always had less access to information on the European Union and therefore fewer opportunities to develop a sense of European citizenship. There is clear evidence that people from rural environments have less knowledge on the European Union and identify less, if not at all, with the European values. That is why within the project we will try to bring Europe closer to those citizens who are really in need of information and empowerment In line with the overall objective of bringing Europe closer to its citizens, this project aims at informing, raising awareness and fostering debate on the European values and achievements among 2 age groups of citizens, children aged 10-14 and adults that live in different rural areas in the 3 European partner countries: Romania, Czech Republic and Portugal.
