Summary/Abstract: The theater has always been a laboratory of creation, experimentation and discovery, a field of debates but also the mirror of mentalities, of preoccupations expressing the level of a civilization. A paradoxical phenomenon, the theater is a literary creation as well as a spectacular representation, it is an art of the word but also of its pronunciation, an art of the gesture and of the game. Eternal through the golden texts of dramatic literature, ephemeral through the nature of the show which evaporates during a representation, the theater remains a priviledged art. The trasnformation of the text in scenical representation is achieved through the actor, through his voice and body altogether. The written letter is a vehicle which transmits knowledge and experience and a symbol of the initiation on orality as a means of creating and existing. The rediscovery of the virtualities of orality and the role played by the voice in the conservation and the evolution of human societies create another perspective on the manner of conceiveing and making theater. Starting from a written text or perpetuated by the tradition in its oral form, the theatrical phenomenon may contribute in a significant way to a new understanding of the human being, of its dimension and sense of existing in the world.
