Summary/Abstract: This text, making Stefan Szymutko’s book 'Przeciw marzeniu?' [‘Against a daydream?’] central to the afterthought proposed, can hardly be situated within a genological network of academic discourse. Although the text itself is formally closest to a review, the possibility of such identification seems conclusively dubious. The selection of methodological tools, which are close to an instance of ‘ethical criticism’ reading, makes this quasi-review different from a traditionally ‘critical’ account of a reading experience. It is only using analytical-interpretative guidelines going beyond the scope of a purely scholarly thinking about literature that the author could have attempted at grasping the singularity of the reading situation experienced by Mr. Szymutko reading Teodor Parnicki.
