Summary/Abstract: The article is an initial profile of the tasks, operating rules and construction of the Philological Information System developed by a team of scholars from the Institute of Linguistics, Russian State University for Humanities (RGGU). Upon the example of an elaboration of Valery Briusov’s texts, the author presents broad possibilities of electronic text edition. For instance, philological explanatory notes can be inserted in the form of a commentary, translation or sound record, explaining difficult fragments of the text or even the entire text.
