Summary/Abstract: In both belligerant camps, Turkey plays an important role, especially from the economic view. Having important raw materials reserves (especially chrome, very important for armament and munitions industry) Turkey was negociating with both sides, and, at from the part of the Allied strategy, various methods was envisaged in order to reduce and, eventualy, eliminate exports to the German plants (among these methods: anticipate acquisitions, sabotage, diplmatic pressures). In the last instance, it was the chrome and the Turkey’s economic relations with Axis countries which fostered a strong attitude from the part of United States and Great Britain, in the Summer of 1944, more than potential importance of Turkey as an active participant at the war.
