Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the analysis of gender aspects of social orphanage. The main topics of research are transformation of traditional gender roles, peculiarities of response to social changes which entail social orphanage and are caused by gender specificity. The gen-der aspect of upbringing is examined. The socio-psychological portrait of mothers who abandon their children is studied.
