Summary/Abstract: This paper describes Forest Enets verbal forms which allow the combination of the evidential meaning of the Inferential (the situation referred to has not been witnessed directly by the speaker; the source of information is either the resulting state of the situation or some of its less straightforward manifestations observed by the speaker) with a set of meanings from the semantic domain of epistemic modality. To express those semantic combinations Forest Enets has developed an analytical verbal paradigm (resultative participle of the main verb plus an auxiliary ’be’ containing an affix with a modal meaning). This analytical paradigm is a peculiar feature of Forest Enets, being untypical of the rest of Northern Samoyedic languages.
