Summary/Abstract: At the end of the Second World War, the countries of Eastern Europe have experienced radical changes in the political regime, which had repercussions in the field of historiography. The purpose of this study is to highlight how the Marxist interpretation of history was applied in communist Romania and in the GDR. The research explores the major differences between the two Marxist historiographies together with the reasons for these differences.
