Summary/Abstract: The regulation of the Gypsy labour in Transnistria by the Decision no. 3149 of December 18, 1942 was part of a larger project of the Government of Transnistria which sought to create for the two groups of deportees (the Jews and the Gypsies) a system of using them for labour able to secure the survival of the deportees and at the same time, to relieve the Government of the expenses incurred with their feeding and accommodation. The two regulations, for Jews and for Gypsies, introduced at an interval of 11 days, were a consequence of the modification occurred in the autumn of that year in the policy of the Romanian government towards the Jews.
