Eastern Partnership – for Security and Cooperation

Summary/Abstract: On 7 May 2009 a program was initiated under the name of the Eastern Partnership. This proposal from Poland, as supported by Sweden, aims to make the EU's Eastern policy more dynamic. The program is expected to facilitate mutual contacts between the EU and Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. An important element of it is a multi-dimensional deepening of the relationship between the EU and the above mentioned countries at the political, security, economic and social levels.
