Summary/Abstract: Protecting diversity is one of the principles of sustainable development but it seems completely impossible and unreasonable in cities. The question arises why protect the environment where it is not. Specific urban ecosystem, contrary to popular opinion is characterized by a high biodiversity resulting from the mosaic structure of the communities, which consists of patches of natural varying degrees modified by human, agricultural areas, green sheathed and synanthropic vegetation. Increasing urbanization, organize previously idle land, maintenance cost, planning and plant cultivation are affect the decrease diversity. Underestimated is the value in the functioning of cities, improving living conditions in the cities and the economic aspect.
