The perhorming an academic function of non-metroplitan cities in Poland in local development strategies

Summary/Abstract: The paper present the role of an academic functions in the local development strategies of nonmetropolitan academic cities in Poland. For this purpose, there were analyzed local development strategies of non-metropolitan cities which are the capitals of voivodeships, as well as strategies for cities that prior to 1999 had the status of capitals of voivodeships and other cities, where public schools: universities, technical universities or universities of applied science were located. The aim of the analysis was to answer the question whether there is recognize the possibility of taking the advantage of the potential of academic functions for creating development by the local development policy makers.
