Summary/Abstract: A question arose from our previous research about the suitability of the characteristics of users of archives in America for the development of archival information systems in Bosnia and Herzegovina. To answer this question we analysed 99 user queries from 2014 from the Archive of Tuzla kanton. Our results were compared to results of Duff i Johnson (2001). They found that service requests held the largest share (27% of 392 queries). This kind of request appeared only once in our sample (1% or 1 of 99). Material finding was also a frequent category in their sample (17% of 392). These prevailed in our subsample of researchers but only formed 41 % o the entire sample, as they never appear when people are asking for information to protect some of their rights. Duff i Johnson (2001) found that users formed queries by giving names, dates, places, topics, form or event. Date, place and topic were most frequent in our sample. Form was rarely given. We may conclude, that our sample included different queries as the study of Duff and Johnson (2001). Foreign results therefore have a limited value in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
