Summary/Abstract: This paper analyzes an important issue, namely the meaning of décor found on some figurines from Gumelniţa culture. The decoration of Gumelniţa figurines is usually standardized, with two main types, each with variants. Along with two types of decoration found on the majority of figurines, there are a few pieces with a special décor. This is the case for five figurines which even though are decorated with geometric elements specific for Gumelniţa figurines, stand out from the rest by the combination and display of these elements on the body and legs of figurines. This décor can be considered as an element for identifying a personage which plays a certain role within Gumelniţa society, an important role considering the rarity of this type of ornament. The personage can be a community leader or a representation of a divinity. It is important to notice that the personage represented by these figurines is of feminine sex.
