Summary/Abstract: The paper answers the question: how the weekly Catholic News is perceived by its readers. Inside the reception research the authors chose the focus groups method. In the Catholic News´ audience spectrum they focused on the multi-generation family communities, referring on the slogan “the news for every family”. They was looking into the views of young, middle-aged and older readers of the news themselves (extent, language, attractiveness, absenting texts, overall mission) and of the single concrete sections and articles (attractiveness, understanding, apprehending the message). Finally, the authors are summarizing the ideas concerning the fundamental perception of the periodical, the generation differences between the readers, the ability of the texts to evangelize, the journalistic character of the texts and the genre structure of the news.
