Summary/Abstract: The problem of subjonctif mood still is very urgent in the modern Romanic languages though this issue has been analyzed by many French (and not only) linguists. This article tries to define the significance of subjonctif mood in the contemporary French, to show the vitality of those forms in belles– letters of the XXth century and to discuss the grammatical possibilities of the Lithuanian language while translating the subjonctif mood into it.
