Summary/Abstract: The revival of ethics from the middle of 20th century is accompanied by strengthened claims that technology should also be considered as an activity subjected to ethical questioning. In an effort to avoid controversial effects of technological progress, legitimate function of neutrality formula is put into a question. While this formula allowed everything known and invented, at the same time, to be applied, the ethical correction again introduces dimension of the need. Everything that could be made, known and invented is not at the same time allowed. Moreover, the noticeable crisis of optimistic faith in complete progress has lead to reconsideration of moral dimension and responsibility of technological effects on human, society and natural environment. By demonstrating ethical boundaries of technology, technologisation of the ethical as well as the ethicisation of technological, the author reveals that conviction that technology does not have to follow the values -is false. It is always something about human activity; before the judgment of moral reason, we can question whether technology is used in a purpose of serving the life or its destruction. Moral criteria are also necessary for distinguishing technological threat and for confronting its perils. Therefore, technology should be viewed in a light of ethical judgment of what is good, and the meaning of activities. The ethicisation of technology is not a decline into pre-modernity but it is the morality which should be viewed as a price of modernity which raises ethical claims to lessen negativities in increasing effects of liability to err. Of course, ethics does not give the final solutions but just opens up the horizon of rethinking the meaning and the good, i.e. the horizon of authentic consciousness of responsibility.
