The prominent position of the West Pomeranian Voivodship in the Polish tourism.

Summary/Abstract: The objective of the article is to present the extent of tourism development in the West Pomeranian Voivodship in contrast with the data concerning the whole country. That is why the numbers of domestic and foreign tourists using accommodation facilities in 1998 and 2011 are presented. The data given prove that the West Pomeranian Voivodship still holds the first position in Poland. Because of this reason it is sometimes called one of the most attractive tourist regions in Poland by some politicians and leaders. The article also presents the spatial variety of tourist movement as far as the county structure is concerned, the phenomenon of seasonality and the actual extent to which the tourist facilities are used.
