Cultural landscape management in Polanowice, Byczyna municipality – vision of village residents

Summary/Abstract: The hitherto development of the village has been natural and respectful of the existing values combining the urbanized landscape with the surroundings. The rapid changes ongoing in rural landscape of the recent years create the necessity to seek solutions that would stop its degradation. What gains importance is the increasing awareness of local communities and including them into actions aiming to protect their living space. This work presents the results of the research conducted in the village of Polanowice; Byczyna Municipality concerning the local inhabitants’ perception of the village they live in. The conducted survey questionnaire found people’s preferences as to the way of the village development and cultivation of the broadly understood tradition. Social participation understood in this way creates possibilities of right decision making for area development plans and consequently proper landscape management.
