Transformation of the functional and spatial structure of villages located in the borders of landscape park

Summary/Abstract: This paper analyzes the changes of spatial structure of rural areas. Villages that are located in the borders of the Landscape Park of Dolina Bystrzycy in the commune of Kąty Wrocławskie were chosen for the research. The results show that the population of the commune of Kąty Wrocławskie has been steadily increasing for several years. However; the population in the villages located in the landscape park has not grown so much in terms of population. Some of them were depopulated. The land-use in the researched villages changed very little. The results of the study lead to the conclusion that the protection of the landscape park is effective. The statistics show that the villages located outside the landscape park absorb most of the current development.
