Legislative basis of archival profession in Republic of Kosovo

Summary/Abstract: Principle, as it is known is a formal source of law. At the beginning of of business in Kosovo, legality has been used as the basis of which it was built archival “building.” Later, especially after the war, that means after the 1999, the legality of the development and advancement of the sector, not only in organizational terms, but also in functional terms. During the first period, after the formation of Archives of Kosovo, based in Pristina 20th of March 1951, the activity has spread throughout the territory of Kosovo. This institution was operated by the Yugoslav system of socialist selfmanagement. Based on the former statutory provisions formed archived at major cities of Kosovo, also called regional is the archives. This system of organizing archival of business by larger urban centers, with small changes, work up in 1989. when abolish the autonomy of the province and when the Archives of Kosovo placed under receivership Measures of management. After the war, 1999 after the liberation of the country, archives your place of business to the legal provisions of UNMIK under the Ministry of Culture. Meanwhile Archive was transformed into the Directorate Archive of Kosovo and in the end, the Law on archives and archival service of the 2007 he founded the National Agency of Kosovo Archive, created by local legislation and modern international standards in this field.
