On the Significance, Aims, Objectives and Possibilities of Music Education at School

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the conception of a complex music education system developed by E. Balčytis and practised for over 30 years in secondary schools of Lithuania as well as the significance, aims, objectives and possibilities of music education at school. the article is related to previously published articles “Etnomuzika muzikinio ugdymo sistemoje“(“Ethnic Music in the System of Music Education”) (no.1, 2004), “Kompleksinio muzikinio ugdymo koncepcija“ (“The Concept of Complex Music Education”) (no. 2, 2005), “Music Education System and its Principles at Lithuanian School“ (no. 5, 2006) which were published in the journal “Kūrybos erdvės” / “The Spaces of Creation”. As the article serves as a continuation of presentation of a complex music education system to the readers of the journal, it is worth having the above listed articles (Balčytis, 2004, 2005, 2006) close when reading the article.
