The timar system and it's importance in land administration of Ottoman Empire's provinces

Summary/Abstract: The extension of the Ottoman Empire didn`t mean a mass colonization of the conquered countries. In fact, the politics was to overlap the former economic and social forms with the new ones, the ottoman institutions. One of the Turkish landed institutions but also the administrative one was the tımar. The word means “to groom” and had existed since the pre- ottoman time, being used for the first time during the Abbasiz rulers and, after that, was also used bu the other Turkish little states.[...] "Extinderea Imperiului otoman nu a însemnat pentru nici unul dintre ţinuturile cucerite o colonizare în masă, ci numai suprapunerea peste formele existente ale vieţii economice şi sociale a tiparelor instituţionale feudale otomane. Una din instituţiile funciare dar şi administrative turceşti a fost tımâr-ul. Termenul este de origine persană şi înseamnă ”a îngriji”, „a se îngriji”, iar instituţia ca atare datează din perioada preotomană1, apărând prima dată în statul Abbasizilor, iar ulterior fiind întâlnită şi la alte formaţiuni turcomane.
