Summary/Abstract: The term „common good” is vague and sometimes used in philosophy, economics, law, journalism and frequently has different meanings. Also, the term „health” has a broad meaning anda few definitions. The inspiration for this article was the thesis in one of the publications that„health is a common good”. This understanding is different from universal intuition accepting health as a personal value whereas understanding of health in the sense of „public health” asa common good, requires interpretation. Consideration of this issue is important for the theory ofhealth promotion and health education. The work is an attempt to clarify whether health can be understood as a common good and to provide adequate answers for the questions posed. The finalthesis affirms that treating health as a „common good” is misleading, because it does not reflect reality.
