Universal bibliographic control and legal deposit

Summary/Abstract: The study is based on considering the legal regulations that regulate the issue of legal deposit in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with special reference to the legal regulations of countries in the region, especially from the standpoint of types of library materials and libraries that receive legal deposit. Analyzing this we have come to conclusion that the main causes of problems arise when it comes to the regularity and completeness, inadequately and imprecisely defined legal regulations and the absence of effective mechanism of compliance with the provisions. It is the image that characterizes the current state of legal deposit in Bosnia and Herzegovina.Considering that, necessarily arises the question of amendments to the Law on Library Activity and Law on legal deposit, which should be determined as a system that will be an irreplaceable part of our library system.
