Summary/Abstract: The text focuses on chrematonyms and their function in selected literary texts of two Czech authors, Bohumil Hrabal and Ota Pavel. Chrematonyms in Hrabal's short stories create a contrast of gray communist regime in fifties to the diversity of prewar life, whereas prose of Ota Pavel serves as an evocation of memories of a happy childhood and teenage years in Prague and Berounka river.
