Summary/Abstract: The study describes the historical development of urbanonyms in a small Czech town Mnichovo Hradiště in the 19th and 20th centuries. The first chronological part describes the major development trends, the second part applies several approaches to classification of urbanonyms. The names of streets were affected by political changes: each political regime preferred a different semantical type of the name.
