Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with the so called partners’ names. These are names used especially in private communication between two persons (partners) who are dating, or who have been married, to address each other instead of their first names, surnames or hypocorisms. The language material has been gathered via two questionnaires (2009, 2012). This paper discusses the disputable question regarding the inclusion of partners’ names among proper names. It also describes the main characteristics of partners’ names like informality, expressivity, diminutiveness, intimacy, extralinguistics experience and others.
