Political Liberalism. Reason and Truth in Politics

Summary/Abstract: In this article I try to prove that John Rawls, in his lectures published in Political Liberalism and later works, recommended the independence of one’s world-view and politics, and that at the same time he allowed the existence of non-conflicting factual truths in politics. His reflections on the problem of truth in the political realm are closely related to his reflections on reason, not only the public one. Thus, the aim of this article is to present and analyze Rawls’ understanding of reason and the place and function of truth in politics.
