Ageing of societies and migration – two fundamental challenges for Europe in the 2010s. Are we ready for change?

Summary/Abstract: There is no doubt that the current rapid increase in population ageing across the globe signifies unprecedented demographic changes in the history of humankind. Demographic changes are among the most important challenges facing societies, labour markets and economies. This paper analyses how low fertility rates, ageing populations, and the growing number of migrants from other countries are changing the face of the European Union and the entire global community.
