Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the contemporary Polish philosophy of education in the context of cultural changes and the breakthrough that the humanities had made. Polish traditions of philosophy of education dates back to at least the Romantic period and significantly affect the image of the state of contemporary thought. Analysis of the basic concepts leads to the belief of ambiguity and chaos in this sphere. For the visibility of changes that have taken place in this field in XX-XXI century they have been cited two radically different concepts of the prominent Polish teachers-philosophers of education: Bogdan Suchodolski and Janusz Gnitecki. They not only point out the relationships of education with its external socio-political conditions; but also develop their concepts in conjunction with modern (for each period) trends in the humanities. At the end of the article author made his own proposal of interpretation of the meaning of philosophical pedagogy.
