Summary/Abstract: In a manuscript titled Notatki do Historyi Szlaska (Notes on the History of Silesia), which Jerzy Kotula, a Cieszyn’s bookseller and a student of his region, had been writing from 1881, we may find three pages in which he put down Gypsy words with Polish translation. Kotula’s source of information was Jozef Balasz, whom the author of this article tries to identify with the help of the existing documents from the 19th Century. The tiny dictionary presented in the article has been a modest contribution to the research on Gypsies from Cieszyn Silesia.
