Ethical, Educational and Political Value of Tolerance

Summary/Abstract: In the firts part of the article, the author analitically investigates the structure of tolerance, its forms and vindications. The author differentiates and, through historical philosophems, reconstructs three different ways of vindicating tolerance: vindication by the reasons of enlightened egoist, vindication by cognitive reasons and vindication by moral reasons. In the second part of the article, philosophical meaning of bringing up has been considered, as well as ethical, educational and political importance of tolerance for liberal-democratic political culture and the ways of its reproduction in a curriculum of contemporary school education.
